...MESSY WINTER SYSTEM TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING... .A strong storm system will move into the area tonight, exiting the area Wednesday. Several inches of wet, heavy snow is expected across parts of the eastern UP, with a mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain from the Mackinac Bridge to approximately M-72, with a greater potential for significant freezing rain accumulations from Roscommon to Alpena and Harrisville, including some areas hard-hit by the March 2025 Ice Storm. * WHAT...Heavy, wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 8 inches. * WHERE...Western Chippewa County. * WHEN...From 8 PM this evening to 8 PM EDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.
