Description:
* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 2
feet mainly limited to the northern half of the range. The
southern portion of the range may see amounts of 3 to 6 inches
mainly in the highest elevations. Elevations below 7,500 feet and
along eastern slopes may see lesser amounts of 1 to 4 inches.
Winds could gust as high as 80 mph at times.
* WHERE...Wind River Mountains East and Wind River Mountains West.
* WHEN...From this evening through Saturday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult especially in the
backcountry. Little to no snow accumulation is forecast along
South Pass.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall will differ in intensity over a 3
day span with periods of moderate to heavy snowfall. Periodic wind
gusts in excess of 80 mph and snowfall will likely create near
whiteout conditions at times. Warm temperatures during the day
will likely lead to a transition over to rain, mainly across
elevations below 7,500 feet with a return to snow by nightfall.
