FFWPSR The National Weather Service in Phoenix has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... Gila County in east central Arizona... Maricopa County in south central Arizona... * Until 1245 AM MST. * At 1030 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.75 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Roosevelt, Apache Lake, Four Peaks, Roosevelt Dam and Tortilla Flat. This includes the following streams and drainages... Salt River, Cottonwood Creek, Tonto Creek, Bronco Creek, Barge Creek, La, Tortilla Creek, Alder Creek, Buckhorn Creek, Burnt Corral Creek, Lewis and Pranty Creek, Boulder Creek, Barranca Creek, Ash Creek and Pine Creek.
Instruction: 
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
