The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southeastern Cook County in northeastern Illinois...
* Until 145 AM CDT.
* At 1038 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms continuing to produce heavy rainfall with rainfall
rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Up to 2.5 inches of rainfall has
fallen so far in the Country Club Hills, Harvey, and Homewood
areas, with multiple reports of roadway flooding received across
portions of southern Cook County.
Additional rainfall up to 1 inch is possible over the next 30
minutes. Worsening of flash flood impacts is imminent.
HAZARD...Significant flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.
IMPACT...Rapid-onset, significant flooding of creeks, streams,
drainage ditches, low-lying areas, and poor drainage
areas. Widespread street and underpass flooding.
Possible flooding of structures. Possible flooding of
highways.

Lansing, Oak Forest, Harvey, Blue Island, Dolton, Park Forest,
Homewood, Alsip, Matteson, Frankfort, Steger, South Holland,
Country Club Hills, South Deering and Midlothian.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
