Description: 
At 356 AM CDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area and is asking citizens to avoid travel in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Newton, Mitchellville, Colfax, Prairie City, Baxter, Iowa Speedway, Rock Creek Lake, Kellogg, Gilman, Collins, Rhodes, Mingo, Laurel, Lambs Grove, Valeria, Newton Municipal Airport, Prairie City Krohn Airport and Rock Creek State Park.

Avoid travel if at all possible. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
