Description:
At 606 PM MDT, gauge reports indicated high flows in Embudo Arroyo.
The arroyo has reached above 10 feet. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Gauges reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Albuquerque, Los Ranchos De Albuquerque, North Valley, Sandia
Heights, South Valley and Alameda.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 157 and 168. Interstate 25 between
Mile Markers 222 and 233.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Arroyos, streams, and normally dry rivers can become raging killer
currents in a matter of minutes. Water in arroyos can travel many
miles and take hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of normally
dry arroyos and streambeds, low water crossings, intersections and
underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low lying areas.
