Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...The following areas, Susitna Valley and Hatcher Pass. This includes the cities of Skwentna, Willow, Talkeetna, Trapper Creek, Petersville, and Chulitna. * WHEN...From Tuesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Area rivers, creeks, and streams are elevated from the previous rain event and will likely rise again during these next rain events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Two additional storm systems will bring rain to the Susitna Valley, the first Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning and the second Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon. 0.50" to 1" of rain is likely (70-80%) with the first event with an additional 1.0" to 2.5" of rain likely (70-80%) with the second event. The track of both systems will favor the highest rainfall totals over the northern and eastern Susitna, along the Talkeetna Mountains. As a result, fast responding rivers and streams along and east of the Parks Highway may be more susceptible to flooding with this event. - Http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
