The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Red Flag Warning FOR LIGHTNING, which is in effect from 1 PM Friday to 1 AM AKDT Saturday. * Timing...Thunderstorms are expected to develop Friday afternoon and storms weakening or moving out of the area by Friday night. * Location...From Palmer north along the Parks Highway to Chulitna, along the Denali Highway, and western Susitna Valley including Skwentna. * Thunderstorm Coverage...Scattered to widely scattered likely. * Winds...Southwest 5 to 10 mph. Gusty and erratic winds expected near thunderstorms. * Relative Humidity...As low as 35 percent. * Temperatures...In the mid to upper 70s for lower elevations. * Impacts...Ample lightning could lead to numerous new fire starts. * Additional Details...Thunderstorms are expected to be wet with brief, heavy downpours likely.
