Description:
The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag
Warning for lightning, which is in effect from 1 PM Friday to
12 AM Saturday.
* AFFECTED AREA...South Slopes Of The Central Brooks Range,
Upper Koyukuk Valley and Dalton Highway Summits.
* TIMING...From 1 PM Friday to 12 AM Saturday.
* THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE INDEX...Scattered
* WINDS...West 5 to 10 mph.
* HUMIDITY...As low as 30 percent.
* TEMPERATURES...Highs in the upper 70s to near 80
* IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected due to
scattered thunderstorms. Thunderstorms will come with frequent
lightning. Any lightning can cause new ignitions since the fuels
are dry and burnable.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Most of the thunderstorm activity will move
out of the region by 12 AM Saturday morning. If we notice the
thunderstorm risk is ending earlier or later, we will update as
necessary.

A Red Flag Warning means that conditions are occurring or will
occur which could lead to the development of large and dangerous
fires. It is directed toward fire agencies, and through them, to
the public.
