The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag Warning for lightning, which is in effect from 1 PM Friday afternoon to 3 AM AKDT Saturday. * AFFECTED AREA...Lower Yukon River, Middle Yukon Valley, Lower Yukon and Innoko Valleys and Upper Kuskokwim Valley. * TIMING...From 1 PM Friday afternoon to 3 AM AKDT Saturday. * THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE INDEX...Numerous * WINDS...Northwest 8 to 15 mph. * HUMIDITY...As low as 35 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Highs in the mid 70s to near 80. * IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected due to numerous thunderstorms. Thunderstorms will come with frequent lightning. Any lightning can cause new ignitions since the fuels are dry and burnable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Most of the numerous thunderstorm activity will move out of the region by 3 AM Saturday morning. If we notice the thunderstorm risk is ending earlier or later, we will update as necessary.
