The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag Warning for lightning, which is in effect from noon today to midnight AKDT tonight. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. * AFFECTED AREA...Upper Kobuk and Lower Koyukuk Valley. * TIMING...From noon today to midnight AKDT tonight. * THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE INDEX...Scattered. * WINDS...Northwest 5 to 10 mph. * HUMIDITY...As low as 30 to 40 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Highs in the upper 70s/low 80s. Lows around 50. * IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected due to scattered thunderstorms. Thunderstorms will come with frequent lightning and outflow boundaries. Any lightning can cause new ignitions since the fuels are dry and burnable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop in the Upper Kobuk and Lower Koyukuk Valleys.
