The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag Warning for lightning, which is in effect from noon today to midnight AKDT tonight. * AFFECTED AREA...Upper Koyukuk Valley. * TIMING...From noon today to midnight AKDT tonight. * THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE INDEX...Scattered. * WINDS...South 5 to 10 mph. * HUMIDITY...As low as 25 to 35 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Highs in the upper 70s/low 80s. Lows around 50. * IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected due to scattered thunderstorms. Thunderstorms will come with frequent lightning and outflow boundaries. Any lightning can cause new ignitions since the fuels are dry and burnable.
