The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag Warning for lightning, which is in effect from noon today to 11 PM AKDT this evening. * AFFECTED AREA...Upper Koyukuk Valley and Dalton Highway Summits. * TIMING...From noon today to 11 PM AKDT this evening. * THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE INDEX...Scattered. * WINDS...South 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Outflow wind gusts 35 to as high as 50 mph. * HUMIDITY...30 to 40 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Highs around 80. Lows in the mid 40s. * IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected due to thunderstorms. Thunderstorms will come with frequent lightning and outflow boundaries. Any lightning can cause new ignitions since the fuels are dry and burnable.
