The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
West Central Cochise County in southeastern Arizona...
* Until 800 PM MST.
* At 548 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain from Benson into St David,
especially along and near Highway 80. Between 1 and 2 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
St. David.
This includes the following highways...
Route 90 between mile markers 295 and 297. Route 80 between mile
markers 296 and 301. Interstate 10 between mile markers 309 and 310.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
