Description:
At 322 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across portions of the Tucson
Metro, extending from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base westward across
the south side of Tucson. An automated rain gauge at the Tucson
Electric Power Power just west of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base has
recorded 1.81 inches in the last hour. Additional rainfall amounts of
0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Tucson, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Drexel Heights, South Tucson,
Tucson International Airport and Rita Ranch.

Interstate 19 between mile markers 60 and 63. Route 86 between mile
markers 168 and 171. Interstate 10 between mile markers 259 and 271.
This includes the following Flash Flood Prone Locations...
Harrison Rd at Pantano Wash, Escalante Rd at Atterbury Wash and
Drexel Rd east of Alvernon Way.
This includes the following streams and drainages...
West Branch Santa Cruz River, Julian Wash, Chico, Arroyo, Santa
Cruz River, Tanque Verde Wash, Pantano Wash and Rillito River.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
