Description:
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with afternoon heat index values
of 98 to 112 degrees expected Wednesday through Saturday
afternoons. Currently...Thursday and Friday look to be the worst
of the heat and humidity but regardless this will be a prolonged
and dangerous heatwave.
* WHERE...This extreme heat warning includes all of southern New
England except the Berkshires and south coasts of Massachusetts
and Rhode Island...where the watch extreme heat watch remains in
place.
* WHEN...From 10 AM Wednesday to 8 PM EDT Saturday. THe worst of the
heat and humidity looks to be Thursday and Friday.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This will be a prolonged and dangerous
heatwave with little relief at night! Low temperatures will only
be dropping into the lower to middle 70s. In fact...the urban heat
island of Boston will only see low temperatures drop into the
upper 70s to near 80!
Instruction:
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
