* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of southern Connecticut, including the following counties, Middlesex, New Haven and New London. * WHEN...Until 530 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 415 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Hourly rainfall rates of up to 0.50 inches, locally an inch are possible the next 1 to 2 hours. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... New Haven, Milford, Shelton, New London, Guilford, Clinton, Groton, Old Saybrook, Chester, Mystic, Hamden, Stratford, Branford, North Haven, Waterford, East Lyme, Ledyard, North Branford, Orange and Derby. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
