...SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ON THURSDAY ACROSS FAR EASTERN OREGON AND WESTERN IDAHO... ...HOT, DRY, AND WINDY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY... .Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across far eastern Oregon and western Idaho this afternoon. Storms will be capable of frequent lightning, gusty outflow winds, and only sporadic wetting rains. While the thunderstorm threat will end by Friday and Saturday, hot, dry, and windy conditions will develop, primarily across southeast Oregon and the higher terrain of southwest Idaho. The driest and windiest day at this time is expected on Saturday. The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Red Flag Warning for winds and low relative humidities, which is in effect from 2 PM MDT /1 PM PDT/ Friday to 9 PM MDT /8 PM PDT/ Saturday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. * AFFECTED AREA...In Idaho, Fire Weather Zones 401 Western Payette National Forest and 402 Eastern Payette National Forest. In Oregon, Fire Weather Zones 670 Burns BLM and 671 Steens Mountain. * TIMING...From 2 PM MDT /1 PM PDT/ Friday to 9 PM MDT /8 PM PDT/ Saturday. * WINDS...Southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...6 to 18 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
