Southern Macon County in central Illinois... * Until 600 PM CDT. * At 454 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Mechanicsburg, or 17 miles east of Springfield, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...Tornado and baseball size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. * This dangerous storm will be near... Mount Auburn around 500 PM CDT. Niantic around 505 PM CDT. Harristown around 510 PM CDT. Other locations in the path of this tornadic thunderstorm include Decatur, Mount Zion, Long Creek, Decatur Airport and Dalton City. This also includes Lincoln Trail Homestead State Park & Memorial and Spitler Woods State Natural Area. This includes Interstate 72 between mile markers 125 and 139.
