Description:
At 905 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated the
heaviest rainfall beginning to move out of the area. Steady rain
continues with rain rates up to 1 inch per hour. Multiple areas
received rainfall up to 2 inches across the area, with multiple
reports of street flooding received. Rapid rises along multiple
creeks are possible over the next few hours.
HAZARD...Flash flooding.

IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage
ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and
other poor drainage areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Chicago, Hammond, Gary, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn,
Calumet City, Portage, Merrillville, Chicago Heights, Roseland,
East Chicago, Schererville, Hobart, Lansing, Oak Forest, Harvey,
Highland, Blue Island and Munster. This includes Thorn Creek in
southern Cook County and Hart Ditch in northern Lake County.
Instruction:
A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may
already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and
other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life
and property.
