At 1208 AM CDT, The heaviest rainfall has ended. However, doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicate 2 to 5 inches of rain fell in the warned area due to earlier thunderstorms, with the highest amounts near Homewood. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding continues in the warned area with several creeks and streams rising rapidly towards and above flood stage. HAZARD...Significant flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Rapid-onset, significant flooding of creeks, streams, drainage ditches, low-lying areas, and poor drainage areas. Widespread street and underpass flooding. Possible flooding of structures. Possible flooding of highways. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Chicago, Hammond, Tinley Park, Calumet City, Chicago Heights, Lansing, Oak Forest, Harvey, Blue Island, Dolton, Park Forest, Homewood, Alsip, Matteson, Frankfort, Steger, South Holland, Country Club Hills, South Deering and Midlothian.
