Description: 
At 526 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Bogota, or 9 miles southwest of Newton, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of southwestern Jasper, northwestern Clay and southeastern Effingham Counties, including the following locations... Hord and Iola. This includes Interstate 57 between mile markers 142 and 143.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 900 PM CDT for south central and southeastern Illinois. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
