Stephenson County in northwestern Illinois...
* Until 615 PM CDT.
* At 519 PM CDT, two severe thunderstorms were located over
Woodbine, or 15 miles east of Galena, and also 7 miles
northwest of Freeport, both moving east at 30 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.
* Locations impacted include...
Freeport, Lena, Stockton, Pearl City, Cedarville, Davis, Woodbine,
Dakota, Winslow, Rock City, Ridott, Nora, Schapville, Buena Vista,
Rock Grove, Oneco, Orangeville, Kent, Eleroy, and Damascus.
This also includes Apple River Canyon State Park and Lake Le-Aqua-
Na State Recreation Area.
Instruction:
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
sturdy building.
Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
