Description:
At 807 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Pittsburg to Crainville to near Murphysboro, moving
southeast at 30 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Carbondale, Marion, Herrin, Murphysboro, Carterville, Johnston City,
De Soto, Crainville, Cambria, Energy, Hurst, Pittsburg, Freeman Spur,
Bush, Whiteash, Williamson County Regional Airport, Colp, and
Spillertown.
This includes Interstate 57 in Illinois between Mile Markers 46 and
61.
Instruction:
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
