Description:
* WHAT...Heat index values up to 105 expected Monday afternoon.
Overnight temperature recovery into the upper 60s to low 70s will
also lead to increased heat stress.
* WHERE...In Kansas, Cheyenne KS, Decatur, Graham, Norton, Rawlins,
Sheridan, and Thomas Counties. In Nebraska, Dundy, Hitchcock, and
Red Willow Counties.
* WHEN...From 7 AM CDT /6 AM MDT/ Monday to 1 AM CDT /midnight MDT/
Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Increased risk for heat related illnesses.
Instruction:
Limit strenuous outdoor activities to the early morning or evening
hours, if possible. If you must be outdoors, wear light weight and
loose fitting clothing, drink plenty of water and take frequent
breaks in the shade or an air conditioned building.
Check up on relatives and neighbors. Never leave young children and
pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Symptoms of heat exhaustion include heavy sweating, paleness, muscle
cramps, weakness, dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, and
fainting.
