...The National Weather Service in Wichita KS has issued a Flood
Warning for the following rivers in Kansas...
Verdigris River at Altoona affecting Wilson County.
Verdigris River at Independence affecting Montgomery and Wilson
Counties.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Verdigris River at Independence.
* WHEN...From Monday morning to Tuesday evening.
* IMPACTS...At 36.0 feet, Some flooding of low lying areas and
bottom land can be expected.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 7.0 feet and rising.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late tomorrow morning to a crest of 34.3 feet tomorrow
evening. It will then fall below flood stage Tuesday morning.
- Flood stage is 30.0 feet.
Instruction:
Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't
drown.
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
