...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Kansas... Walnut River at Winfield affecting Cowley and Butler Counties. Walnut River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Walnut River at Arkansas City. * WHEN...Until Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Considerable flooding of farmland is expected. Widespread flooding of the park just upstream of the gage site is anticipated. East Chestnut Avenue east of By-pass is closed due to water over roadway. Greens Farm Road floods between Highway 166 north to Dunbar Hill. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 2:15 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 17.4 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this afternoon to a crest of 19.4 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage Tuesday morning. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet.

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov.
