Sappa Creek At Oberlin 1sw affecting Decatur County.
For the Sappa Creek...including Norcatur 15ne, Oberlin 1sw...Minor
flooding is forecast.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Sappa Creek at Oberlin 1sw.
* WHEN...Until early Thursday morning.
* IMPACTS...At 11.0 feet, Water spreads over agricultural fields and
low lying areas with actual water depth in creek at about 6 feet.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 5:35 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 11.2 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 11.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 5:35 PM CDT Tuesday was 13.7 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
just after midnight tonight and continue falling to 7.8 feet
Sunday evening.
- Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
13.0 feet on 05/24/2008.
Instruction:
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
