Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of south central Kansas, including the following
counties, Butler, Harvey, Reno and Sedgwick.
* WHEN...Until 200 AM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 953 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area.
Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in
the warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wichita, Hutchinson, Derby, Newton, El Dorado, Andover,
Haysville, Augusta, Park City, Valley Center, Bel Aire,
Goddard, Rose Hill, Maize, Halstead, Sedgwick, Towanda,
Colwich, Haven and Burrton.
Instruction:
Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't
drown.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
