Counties.
Arkansas River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
forecast.
* WHERE...Arkansas River at Oxford.
* WHEN...From this morning to late Sunday evening.
* IMPACTS...At 22.5 feet, Flood waters cover Wea Street leading east
into the low lying areas of the flood plain.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:45 AM CDT Friday the stage was 18.8 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 21.5
feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage late
Sunday morning.
- Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
Instruction:
Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't
drown.
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
