Description: 
At 806 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 6 miles east of Gove to 11 miles northeast of Scott State Lake to 13 miles south of Russell Springs to 15 miles southeast of Wallace, moving south at 25 mph. THESE ARE DESTRUCTIVE STORMS FOR GOVE, LOGAN, AND WICHITA COUNTIES. HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts and tennis ball size hail. SOURCE...Public. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles. Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely. Locations impacted include... Oakley, Russell Springs, and The Monument Rocks. This includes Interstate 70 in Kansas between mile markers 77 and 80.
Instruction: 
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for west central Kansas. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. These thunderstorms will produce strong winds resulting in areas of near zero visibility in blowing dirt. Use extreme caution if you must travel and be alert for rapidly changing visibility. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
