Description:
At 613 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 7 miles north of Milton to near Naples.
Movement was southeast at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Huntington, Ashland, Ironton, Nitro, Coal Grove, Chesapeake,
Proctorville, Jefferson, St. Albans, Dunbar, Hurricane,
Barboursville, Kenova, Milton, Catlettsburg, Ceredo, Ona, Culloden,
Institute, and Teays Valley.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 64 in Kentucky between mile markers 188 and 191.
Interstate 64 in West Virginia between mile markers 1 and 40, and
between mile markers 48 and 51.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
