Description:
At 347 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 12 miles east of Mcneil to near Eden Isle.
Movement was east at 10 mph.
HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Slidell, Picayune, Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Pass Christian, Eden
Isle, Diamondhead, Pearl River, Kiln, Pearlington, Shoreline Park,
Stennis Space Center, Saucier, and Lyman.
This includes the following Interstates...
Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 259 and 273.
Interstate 10 in Mississippi between mile markers 1 and 27.
Interstate 12 between mile markers 83 and 84.
Interstate 59 in Louisiana between mile markers 1 and 11.
Interstate 59 in Mississippi between mile markers 1 and 5, and
between mile markers 13 and 14.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
If on or near marine areas, get out of the water and move indoors or
inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from
the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be
caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
these storms pass.
