West central Leelanau County in northern Michigan... * Until 1130 AM EDT. * At 1101 AM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 19 miles northwest of Glen Haven to 8 miles west of Sleeping Bear Point, moving northeast at 55 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * These severe thunderstorms will remain over mainly rural areas of west central Leelanau County.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. If on the water, get away from the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now!
