Description:
* WHAT...For the Dense Smoke Advisory, dense smoke will reduce
visibility to less than one nautical mile. For the Small Craft
Advisory, southwest winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 25 kt
and waves 2 to 4 ft expected. For the Gale Watch, northwest
winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 40 kt and waves 2 to 5 ft
possible.
* WHERE...Manitou Island to Point Isabelle MI.
* WHEN...For the Dense Smoke Advisory, until 8 AM EDT this
morning. For the Small Craft Advisory, from 11 AM this morning
to 8 PM EDT this evening. For the Gale Watch, from Tuesday
morning through late Tuesday night.
* IMPACTS...Strong winds can cause hazardous waves which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. Low visibility
will make navigation difficult.
Instruction:
Mariners should consider altering plans to avoid possible
hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter
course, and/or secure the vessel for severe wind and waves.
If you must navigate, proceed with caution. Use proper fog
signals. Make sure all running lights are on. Remember to use
your radar and compass.
