Thunderstorms approaching the Billings metro area are expected to produce very heavy rainfall and localized urban flooding. * WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...West Central Yellowstone County in south central Montana... * WHEN...Until 1215 AM MDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 912 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated very heavy rain due to thunderstorms approaching the Billings metro area from the northwest. Expect urban and small stream flooding. - Localized rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are expected. - Some locations that may experience flooding include... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not drive on or attempt to cross flooded roads, find an alternate route. Roads and driveways may be damaged or washed out in places.
