* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...West Central Hitchcock County in southwestern Nebraska... * WHEN...Until 1015 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. River or stream flows are elevated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 718 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain has moved out of the area. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area especially along the Republican River near Stratton. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Stratton.
Instruction: 
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
