Description:
At 650 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Echo Lake, or
16 miles west of Newton, moving east at 35 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Minor damage to vehicles is possible. Wind damage to roofs,
siding, trees, and power lines is possible.
Locations impacted include...
Newton, Montague, Dover, Hopatcong, Lincoln Park, Kinnelon, East
Stroudsburg, Boonton, Butler, Wharton, Rockaway, Blairstown, Mount
Arlington, Franklin, Mountain Lakes, Stanhope, Riverdale, Hamburg,
Ogdensburg, and Sussex.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 80 in New Jersey between mile markers 32 and 40, and
between mile markers 46 and 48.
Interstate 287 in New Jersey between mile markers 43 and 54.
Instruction:

building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move
indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers.
