Description: 
At 1121 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain with Route 147 closed due to flooding. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas. Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... Cape May, North Wildwood, Wildwood Crest, Avalon, West Cape May, Stone Harbor, Rio Grande, Diamond Beach, Green Creek, Cape May Court House, Scotch Bonnet and North Cape May. This includes Garden State Parkway between mile markers 0 and 11.

Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
