* Flash Flood Warning for...
Northwestern San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...
* Until 700 PM MDT.
* At 355 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain in Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Burn Scar. Up to 1.75 inches
of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.25 inches
are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Sapello, Manuelitas and Rociada.
This includes State Road 518 between Mile Markers 9 and 14.
Dangerous runoff will impact the Rito San Jose, Manuelitas Creek, and
the Sapello River. As much as 1.50 inches of rain also fell around
midday on the headwaters of Manuelitas Creek, and around 1.15 inches
around midday on the Sapello River.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
