Description:
At 701 PM MDT, Rainfall rates have decreased significantly, and
additional rainfall amounts should remain at 0.25 inches or less in
the warned area. However, it will take some time for runoff to
subside and recede, so the Flash Flood Warning will continue.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Gallup, Church Rock, McGaffey, Yah-Ta-Hey, Rock Springs, Red Rock
State Park, Allison and Gamerco.
This includes Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 17 and 28.
Instruction:
Arroyos, streams, and normally dry rivers can become raging killer
currents in a matter of minutes. Water in arroyos can travel many
miles and take hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.
Please report observed flooding to the National Weather Service at
505.224.9007 when you can do so safely.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the roadway.
The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely.
