Description:
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...A portion of central New Mexico, including the following
area, South Central Mountains.
* WHEN...12 PM to 6 PM MDT Saturday afternoon
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be
flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Thunderstorms are expected to develop Saturday afternoon across
the Sacramento Mountains, moving slowly to the southwest.
Rainfall rates are expected to exceed 1 inch per hour in the
strongest storms. Additionally, heavy rainfall from thunderstorms
Friday afternoon have made soils even more susceptible to flash
flooding. There is a moderate to high risk of flash flooding
below the area burn scars.
- This includes the Ruidoso area burn scars and the Seven Cabins
burn scar.
