Description:
At 217 PM MDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from 8
miles southwest of Toadlena to 7 miles east of Vanderwagen, moving
east at 25 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Surface observation at Gallup Airport reached 58 mph wind
gust at 209 PM MDT.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to
roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Gallup, Brimhall Nizhoni, Nakaibito, Yah-Ta-Hey, Tohatchi, Rock
Springs, Church Rock, Fort Wingate, McGaffey and Narbona Pass.
This includes Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 19 and 41.
Instruction:
Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from
windows. These storms have produced damaging winds and are capable of
producing large hail.
Blowing dust associated with strong thunderstorm winds can reduce
visibility below one quarter mile at times.
