Central Roosevelt County in east central New Mexico... * Until 915 PM MDT. * At 827 PM MDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from near Ranchvale to 10 miles southwest of Melrose, moving southeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and small hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Clovis, Portales, Texico, Melrose, Cannon Air Force Base, Oasis State Park, Saint Vrain, Ranchvale, Floyd and Portair. This includes Highway 60 between Mile Markers 356 and 397.

Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. These storms are capable of producing damaging winds. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Blowing dust associated with strong thunderstorm winds can reduce visibility below one quarter mile at times.
