Description:
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with maximum heat index values
from 100 to 110 this afternoon and Thursday afternoon and from 95
to 105 Friday afternoon. Temperatures will stay very warm at
nighttime limiting the ability for cooling of non air-conditioned
places.
* WHERE...Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania.
* WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 8 PM EDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.
Instruction:
Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
