Description:
At 341 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy downpours with embedded
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. The expected rainfall rate is
0.75 to 1.25 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2
inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

Todt Hill, Huguenot, The Verrazano Narrows Bridge, Port Richmond,
Tottenville, Oakwood, Tompkinsville, Annadale, New Dorp, Heartland
Village, Greenridge and Grasmere.

Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage
areas and low lying spots.
If you are in a basement, be prepared to move to a higher floor.
