Description:
At 137 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Little River State Park to Willsboro Bay, moving
south at 30 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Public. At 119 PM, a large tree fell in Colchester and is
blocking all lanes of traffic.
IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and powerlines.
Locations impacted include...
Essex Junction, Barre, Westport Village, Burlington International
Airport, Montpelier, South Burlington, Burlington, Keeseville,
Vergennes, Middlebury, Cambridge, Waterbury Village, Websterville,
Westford, Colchester, Essex Junction Village, Middlesex, Addison,
Washington, and Williamstown.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 87 between mile markers 120 and 121, and between mile
markers 125 and 147.
Interstate 89 between mile markers 40 and 101.
Instruction:
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Boaters on Lake Champlain should seek safe harbor now! Strong winds
will cause higher waves and sudden wind shifts may overturn boats.
If on or near Lake Champlain, get away from the water and move
indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to
15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you
are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter
now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
