Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...Southwestern Rowan County in the piedmont of North
Carolina...
* WHEN...Until 545 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams
and other poor-drainage areas, including farmland, parks,
greenways, boat-access areas, golf courses, underpasses, and
parking lots. Isolated, shallow flows over roadways is possible.
A few flood-prone, low-water crossings may become impassible.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 337 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain due to slow-moving showers has ended. However streams
remain elevated following earlier heavy rainfall. North Second
Creek, downstream of the heaviest rainfall, continues to rise in
response to the excessive runoff upstream. Areas of nuisance
flooding along tributaries to North Second Creek is likely
ongoing, though conditions are expected to gradually improve over
the next 2-3 hours, with a crest of North Second Creek expected
later this evening. While North Second Creek is not expected to
reach Action/Advisory Stage, the Flood Advisory has been extended
to allow upstream floodwaters to crest and recede. Please
continue to stay away from all swollen streams and heed any
barricades that may be in place.
- Some locations that may continue to experience nuisanceflooding
include...
Landis, Enochville, and Mount Ulla.
