At 231 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Sealevel, or 9 miles southwest of Cedar Island, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Havelock, Morehead City, Cedar Island, South River, North River, Sealevel, Merrimon, Davis, Smyrna, Atlantic, Harlowe, Otway, Williston, Great Neck, Open Grounds Farm, North Harlowe, Stacy, Bettie, Cherry Branch Ferry Terminal, and Michael J Smith Airport.
Instruction: 
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Conditions are favorable for the development of weak, brief funnel clouds or weak waterspouts. This type of funnel cloud could briefly touch down, producing wind gusts over 50 mph. If a funnel cloud is spotted move indoors and report your sighting to the National Weather Service.
