Description:
At 834 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorm
outflow winds along a line extending from 11 miles southeast of
Clarksville to near Henderson to near Franklinton to near Raleigh.
Movement was east at 45 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs, small or weakened
trees, and blow around unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Raleigh, Cary, Rocky Mount, Roanoke Rapids, Smithfield, Nashville,
Louisburg, Warrenton, Halifax, and Wilson.
Instruction:
Strong winds may occur well ahead of any rain or lightning. Do not
wait for the sound of thunder before taking cover. If outdoors,
consider seeking shelter inside a building and stay away from
windows.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for
central North Carolina.
